PSALM 25
¹O Lord, my God, hear my prayer; incline Thine ear unto me, and deliver my soul from the darkness that falleth upon the lost, and from the frozen pit where Amphisbaena reigneth in endless cold.
²Let not my feet be turned aside into the paths of death, nor my heart be hardened by the frost of that dread kingdom, but guide me in Thy truth and mercy.
³For Thou art my refuge and strength, a very present help in the day of my trouble; in Thee do I put my trust and find my salvation.
⁴Guard me, O Lord, from the snares of the wicked, and from the cold chains of the frozen Hell; let Thy light shine upon my path and lead me into Thy Heavenly courts.
⁵Remember Thy covenant with Thy servants, and uphold Thy statutes for evermore; suffer me not to be cast down into the icy abyss where no hope abideth.
⁶The wicked walk in darkness and know not the way of peace; their hearts are hardened, and they stumble into the pit prepared for them.
⁷But I will sing of Thy lovingkindness, and will praise Thee for Thy faithfulness; for Thou art the strength of my soul and the shield of my salvation.
⁸Hold me fast, O Lord, that I be not moved; keep me from the cold clutch of the eternal frost and from the dread kingdom of despair.
⁹Let Thy mercy be my shield and my refuge, and Thy truth my guide in the wilderness of this world.
¹⁰For the frozen Hell is a place of darkness and torment, where no light shineth and no warmth abideth; there the souls of the unrighteous are bound in ice.
¹¹But Thy Kingdom is a kingdom of glory and life, where joy and peace endure forever; lead me thither, O Lord, and let me dwell in Thy presence.
¹²Incline Thine ear unto my cry, and answer me in Thy righteousness; deliver me from the hand of mine enemies and from the icy chains of death.
¹³Teach me to walk in Thy ways, and to keep Thy commandments with all my heart; that I may not be found wanting in the day of judgment.
¹⁴Let not the cold of despair touch my soul, nor the shadow of death overtake me; but uphold me with Thy right hand and bring me safely home.
¹⁵For Thou art the God of mercy and truth, the rock of my salvation, and the refuge of the poor in spirit.
¹⁶I will praise Thee all my days, and declare Thy wondrous works; for Thou hast delivered my soul from the pit, and set my feet upon the rock.
¹⁷O Lord, let Thy light shine in the darkness, and guide my steps in the way of life; that I may behold Thy glory and rejoice in Thy presence.
¹⁸Preserve me, O God, from the snares of the wicked, and from the everlasting frost where Amphisbaena reigneth.
¹⁹Let my soul trust in Thee, and my heart be glad in Thy salvation; for Thou art my God and my deliverer, the keeper of my soul.
²⁰Blessed be the Lord, who hath not delivered me into the hand of death, but hath led me into the land of the living, and hath given me a place in His Kingdom forevermore.
