PSALM 29
¹I will lift up my voice in the congregation, and give praise unto the Lord who exalteth the lowly.
²For He hath poured His spirit into vessels of earth, and they have become as gold in His furnace.
³Three were anointed by His will, and their names are as stars fixed in the firmament.
⁴Loras drank of the Chalice of Knowledge, and his mind became as a mirror of the Heavens.
⁵No mystery confounded him, neither were the tongues of the ancients closed unto him.
⁶He spake and the wise men held their peace, for the Lord had filled his mouth with light.
⁷Baltrain drank of the Chalice of Power, and the strength of the hills was girded upon him.
⁸The enemies of the people were cast down at his coming, and the poor rejoiced in their deliverance.
⁹He laid down his sword not for fear, but in obedience, when peace was granted from on high.
¹⁰Cadra drank of the Chalice of Wisdom, and his eyes were opened to things hidden from princes.
¹¹His counsel was as balm to the wounded heart, and his rebuke as rain upon the hardened soil.
¹²He sat not in pride, but listened to the voices of the little ones, and discerned the truth therein.
¹³These three did not contend, neither did they lift up their hearts above one another.
¹⁴Each walked in the measure given him, and magnified the Lord in his own portion.
¹⁵The people were fed by their justice, and the land brought forth peace in abundance.
¹⁶The Lord did not hide His favour from them, for they gave Him glory in the day of their greatness.
¹⁷Their bones rest not in dishonour, but sleep beneath altars where incense is burned.
¹⁸Blessed be the memory of the kings whom God hath instructed, and who turned not aside unto idols.
¹⁹O Lord, raise up again Thy servants after this likeness, that Thy people may not faint by the way.
²⁰Let Thy Chalices be poured once more, and let the chosen rise as firebrands in the night. Amen.
