PSALM 24
¹O Lord, our Lord, where is Thy resting place? For the Heavens are silent, and Thy footstool is barren.
²Ivalice doth groan beneath the weight of Thy absence; the fields yield but bitterness.
³Thy sanctuary is empty, and the lamp within is dim; no voice answereth in the holy place.
⁴Once didst Thou walk amidst the people, and Thy steps were as thunder on the mountains.
⁵The children danced before Thee, and the elders fell upon their faces in awe.
⁶But now art Thou as one afar off, and the songs of Ivalice are turned to lamentation.
⁷Wilt Thou forget Thy vineyard, O Shepherd? Shall the walls be broken and the foxes enter in?
⁸Look down from Thy high habitation, and remember the works of Thine hands.
⁹We have strayed as sheep without a shepherd, yet still we seek Thee in the night watches.
¹⁰Smite not Thine inheritance in Thine anger, neither leave us to the snares of our enemies.
¹¹We confess our transgressions and mourn for our pride; return unto us, for Thou alone art our salvation.
¹²If Thou dwell not among us, how shall the nations know Thy name?
¹³If Thy face shine not upon us, who shall call upon Thee with gladness?
¹⁴Arise, O Lord, and take Thy place among the hills; let Thy glory cover the plain.
¹⁵Gather Thy people as the wind gathereth the chaff, and establish them once more.
¹⁶Let Thy word be heard in the streets, and Thy law be sweet as honey upon our lips.
¹⁷Make haste, O Lord; tarry not, for our days are as grass, and our hope is but a vapor.
¹⁸Build again the house of holiness, and make the hearts of men Thy dwelling place.
¹⁹Then shall the mountains echo with praise, and the sea roar with joy at Thy coming.
²⁰Blessed be the Lord our God, who remembereth mercy, and maketh His habitation with men. Amen.
