PSALM 6
¹O ye sons of dust, incline thine ears unto wisdom, and harden not thy hearts against the word of the Lord.
²For His judgments are established from everlasting, and none may annul them, neither in Ivalice nor in Heaven.
³The statutes of the Most High are as ancient trees, whose roots go down to the depths, and whose branches pierce the clouds.
⁴He that forgetteth the law shall wither as grass in the noonday sun, and his remembrance shall fade like mist.
⁵Be not as the nations who walk in their own counsels, and take pleasure in their idols of vanity.
⁶For they build altars of pride, and sacrifice their souls upon them, though they call it freedom.
⁷The Lord hath spoken by the mouth of His prophets, and by the hand of His Son, whom He shall reveal.
⁸Keep, therefore, the seven holy commandments, and walk not after the imaginations of thine own heart.
⁹Bind them about thy soul, and write them upon the gates of thy dwelling, and upon the doors of thy mind.
¹⁰For the law is life to the obedient, but a sword to the rebellious; it is peace to the humble, but terror to the proud.
¹¹Let not thine hands grow slack in virtue, nor thine eyes wander after forbidden things.
¹²The path of disobedience is wide and smooth, but it descendeth swiftly into the pits of Amphisbaena.
¹³Bezaliel, who is called the Serpent of the North, dwelleth in the waste places, and watcheth for the souls of the erring.
¹⁴His breath is frost, and his touch as death; the bones of the lawless are as dust before his gates.
¹⁵Turn ye, therefore, while yet the day endureth, and let the law of the Lord be thy guide and thy shield.
¹⁶Remember the mercy that walketh with judgment, and the lovingkindness that upholdeth those who fear His name.
¹⁷Let every man examine his ways, and purge from his house the leaven of deceit and the seed of iniquity.
¹⁸Teach the stranger and the sojourner, that they too may dwell safely in the land of the Lord’s favor.
¹⁹Praise be to the God of all ordinances, whose laws are just and whose counsels are perfect.
²⁰Let not thy memory grow dim, nor thy zeal faint, but remember, and thou shalt live. Amen.
