PSALM 20

¹Give ear, O ye faithful, and I shall declare the glory of the Three whom the Lord anointed in His mercy.
²For He raised up Loras, and Baltrain, and Cadra, that they might bear His light in a darkened land.
³Each drank in turn from the holy Chalice, which the angels kept hidden till the appointed hour.
⁴To Loras was given the Chalice of Knowledge, and his eyes were opened unto the mysteries of the world.
⁵The stars spake unto him in their silence, and the bones of Ivalice revealed their secrets.
⁶He numbered the courses of the Heavens, and understood the speech of flame, and the language of the deep.
⁷To Baltrain was given the Chalice of Power, and his arm was made strong to defend the just.
⁸He shattered the yokes of the oppressor, and broke the teeth of the wicked, and was a shield to the poor.
⁹The Lord gave fire unto his voice, and his commands were as thunder upon the mountains.
¹⁰To Cadra was given the Chalice of Wisdom, and the judgment of God rested upon his lips.
¹¹He spake and the peoples were stilled, and the hearts of kings trembled before his counsel.
¹²He turned away wrath with a word, and sowed peace in the furrows of war.
¹³These Three walked not after the pride of men, but served in humility, knowing from whom their gifts proceeded.
¹⁴They laid not hand upon the Chalices for their own glory, but received them with fear and trembling.
¹⁵The Lord Himself did choose them, as vessels unto honour, to bear His light before the nations.
¹⁶And their reigns were long and just, and the land prospered beneath their sceptres.
¹⁷Mercy and truth were the boundaries of their kingdoms; righteousness and peace met in their courts.
¹⁸The poor sang their names, and the widow and orphan blessed their memory.
¹⁹O Lord, remember Thy servants, the Three Kings of the early days, and let their honour not fade from Ivalice.
²⁰For they drank from Thy hand and did not stagger, and their thrones are as altars unto Thee forevermore. Amen.
