PSALM 9
¹Great and terrible art Thou, O Lord Most High, clothed in majesty and girded with power.
²Ivalice trembleth at Thy voice, and the pillars thereof are shaken.
³Thou hast laid the foundations of the world, that they should not be moved for ever.
⁴The morning sun doth rise at Thy bidding, and the moon keepeth her courses by Thy will.
⁵The stars march forth in silence, obeying the decree of their Maker.
⁶Who hath taught the eagle to soar, or the deer to give birth in secret places?
⁷The Lord alone is wise, and from His mouth go forth understanding and counsel.
⁸His breath quickeneth the dust of Ivalice, and man becometh a living soul.
⁹He setteth the humble on high, and bringeth the proud low to the dust.
¹⁰The nations are as a drop in the vessel, and their princes are as fleeting shadows.
¹¹He taketh no pleasure in the strength of horses, nor delighteth He in the legs of a man.
¹²But the meek He remembereth, and the contrite in heart are ever before Him.
¹³Sing unto the Lord, all ye lands, for He hath done marvellous things.
¹⁴Let the mountains clap their hands, and the forests lift up their voices.
¹⁵Fire and hail, snow and vapour, stormy wind fulfilling His word.
¹⁶O let every breath praise the Lord, and let the deep give forth its thunder.
¹⁷For the Lord is King from everlasting, and His throne is established in righteousness.
¹⁸Blessed are they who walk in His paths, and love the light of His commandments.
¹⁹Ivalice shall be filled with His glory, as the waters cover the sea.
²⁰Unto Thee, O Lord, be honour and praise, now and for evermore. Amen.
