PSALM 10

¹Sing aloud, O ye mountains; let the hills rejoice, for the Lord hath raised up three princes of might and majesty.
²From the hand of the Most High they received the holy Chalices, and their names are remembered in the breath of the faithful.
³Loras, Baltrain, and Cadra, anointed of the Lord, walked forth in splendour, each bearing a flame not their own.
⁴Loras drank deeply of the Chalice of Knowledge, and light did burst upon him as the dawn.
⁵The riddles of the stars bowed low before him, and the deep places of Ivalice spoke with his voice.
⁶In his tongue was the clarity of understanding, and with his hands he wrote the secrets of the ages.
⁷Baltrain took up the Chalice of Power and trembled, yet the Lord made his arm as iron and his will like fire.
⁸His foot did not stumble in the day of battle, nor did his shield fall when the weak cried out.
⁹He was a terror to the proud and a tower to the lowly, and peace walked behind him as a bride.
¹⁰Cadra, last to rise, drank the Chalice of Wisdom, and the hush of Heaven came down upon his brow.
¹¹His words were as rivers in a thirsty land, and his silence brought stillness to raging hearts.
¹²He judged with mercy and ruled with patience, and the law of God blossomed beneath his throne.
¹³Not for their own sake did they walk in greatness, but for the glory of Him that called them.
¹⁴They wore no crown save the favour of the Lord, and cast not their gaze upon the riches of men.
¹⁵Blessed art thou, O land that knew their footsteps, and fields that drank the dew of their justice.
¹⁶Let their deeds be remembered in every place of worship, and their names be sung where the faithful kneel.
¹⁷For they drank of the Lord’s own vessel, and were not broken by its weight.
¹⁸They served not their own desires, but waited upon the will of the Most High.
¹⁹O God of Chalices, keep their memory bright, and raise up in our days the like of them.
²⁰Be Thou praised forever, who poureth wisdom as wine, and liftest up the humble to sit among princes. Amen.
