PSALM 8
¹O Lord of hosts, in whom we place our trust, lift up Thy countenance upon us, and let the light of Thy coming shine forth.
²For behold, the days are hastening, and the promised Son shall come in His strength, to execute judgment upon Ivalice.
³The kings of Ivalice shall tremble, and the rulers shall be as dust before His presence; for His word shall not return void.
⁴Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight the path for the mighty One who cometh; let every valley be exalted, and every mountain made low.
⁵The Heavens declare His advent; the stars proclaim His glory; and the morning dawns with a new hope for the children of men.
⁶Who is this that cometh riding upon the clouds, clothed in righteousness, and crowned with glory and honor?
⁷He is the Redeemer of the lost, the Shepherd of the meek; His rod and His staff shall comfort the faithful.
⁸The proud shall be brought low, and the humble exalted; the oppressors shall be scattered, and the captives set free.
⁹Let all Ivalice rejoice, and the seas clap their hands; for the King cometh to reign in truth and mercy.
¹⁰The sword shall be turned into a ploughshare, and the spear into a pruning-hook; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.
¹¹His mercy endureth from generation to generation, and His faithfulness is as the everlasting hills.
¹²The barren shall rejoice, and the desolate shall be glad; for the Lord hath remembered His covenant with His people.
¹³The light of the world shall shine with unquenchable flame; darkness shall flee before His face, and the shadows shall be consumed.
¹⁴O hear, ye Heavens, and give ear, O Ivalice; for the Lord hath spoken, and His word shall not be broken.
¹⁵The morning star riseth in the hearts of the faithful, and the trumpet soundeth for the coming of the King.
¹⁶Let the watchmen lift up their voices, and the heralds proclaim the glad tidings; for the time of redemption draweth near.
¹⁷The meek shall inherit Ivalice, and the righteous shall be made glad; the Lord shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
¹⁸The enemies of the truth shall be confounded, and the servants of righteousness shall rejoice in the day of the Lord.
¹⁹Blessed be the name of the Lord, who alone doeth wondrous things; blessed be the name of the Son, whose Kingdom shall have no end.
²⁰Praise ye the Lord, all ye nations; sing praises unto Him, for He cometh quickly to judge Ivalice in righteousness.
