CHAPTER 9
¹And it came to pass in those days, when the time was fulfilled that Ajora should manifest His glory before the eyes of all the nations, that He journeyed toward the city of Murond.
²And a great multitude went before Him, and many followed after, bearing branches of the sacred trees and singing praises unto the Most High.
³And Ajora sent two of His disciples, saying unto them, “Go ye into the village that is before thee, and straightway ye shall find a horse tied: loose it, and bring it unto Me.”
⁴“And if any man say ought unto thee, ye shall say, ‘The Master hath need of it,’ and straightway he will send them.”
⁵And the disciples went their way, and found even as He had said unto them, and brought the horse unto Him.
⁶And they cast their garments upon the horse, and He sat thereon.
⁷And many spread their garments in the way, and others cut down branches from the trees and strewed them in the way.
⁸And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, “Hosanna to the Son of the Highest! Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Most High! Hosanna in the highest!”
⁹And as He entered into the city of Murond, the whole city was stirred with wonder and amazement.
¹⁰The children ran before Him, and shouted, “Hosanna to Ajora, the King of the Light!”
¹¹And the elders of the city gathered together in their councils, questioning who this was that came in such manner.
¹²But Ajora rode on with calmness and humility, knowing well the hearts of men, and the days that lay before Him.
¹³And He went into the temple courts, and beheld the place where merchants had set their tables.
¹⁴And He made a scourge of cords, and cast them out all, and the sheep and oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew their tables.
¹⁵And He said unto them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.’”
¹⁶And the priests and scribes murmured against Him, and sought to lay hands upon Him, but feared the multitude, because they held Him for a prophet.
¹⁷And that day the people marvelled at the zeal of Ajora, for His passion was as fire consuming the dross.
¹⁸And many that followed Him spake among themselves, saying, “Surely this is the promised One who shall redeem us.”
¹⁹But others said, “He is a disturber of the peace; and His words bring division among the people.”
²⁰Yet Ajora continued in the temple, teaching and healing the sick, and comforting the poor and afflicted.
²¹And He said unto them, “Verily, I say unto thee, the Kingdom of the Father is at hand.”
²²“Repent ye, and believe in the good tidings which I bring.”
²³“For the Kingdom cometh not with observation; neither shall they say, ‘Lo here!’ or ‘Lo there!’ for behold, the Kingdom is within thee.”
²⁴And many wondered at His words, for they were as the dew that maketh the earth fruitful.
²⁵And the children that had shouted in the streets were taught by their mothers to praise the name of Ajora.
²⁶And when the evening was come, He withdrew from the city to a quiet place, and there He prayed unto the Father.
²⁷And He said, “O Father of all light, who dost govern the Heavens and Ivalice, keep Thou me from the hour of darkness.”
²⁸“Let Thy will be done, that Thy Kingdom may be established forever.”
²⁹And the stars appeared above, and the night was filled with the song of angels.
³⁰And the disciples marvelled at the greatness of His spirit, and they also prayed for strength to endure what was to come.
³¹And the next day Ajora again entered the city, teaching in the temple, and the people came from far and near to hear His word.
³²And some brought the lame, and the blind, and the sick, and He healed them all according to their faith.
³³And the priests and scribes were filled with envy and bitterness, and they conspired to put Him to death.
³⁴But the people held Him dear, and the city was divided in opinion, as a flame divideth the wood.
³⁵And Ajora went forth from the temple, and sat upon the mount, and called His disciples unto Him.
³⁶And He said unto them, “Blessed are ye when men revile thee, and persecute thee, and say all manner of evil against thee falsely, for My sake.”
³⁷“Rejoice, and be exceeding glad, for great is thy reward in the Kingdom of the Heavens.”
³⁸“Ye are the light of the world; a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.”
³⁹“Let thy light so shine before men, that they may see thy good works, and glorify thy Father who is in the Heavens.”
⁴⁰And He taught them to be humble, merciful, and just, and to walk in the ways of the Father all their days.
⁴¹And the people that heard Him were astonished at the wisdom that proceeded from His mouth.
⁴²And some asked among themselves, “Is not this Ajora the Son of God?”
⁴³But He answered them not openly, but spake in parables, and in veiled speech.
⁴⁴And so the days passed, and the city was in tumult, for the priests and rulers sought to bind Him.
⁴⁵Yet His word was as a mighty river, breaking the dams of ignorance and sin.
⁴⁶And many were drawn unto Him, and their hearts were made glad.
⁴⁷And Ajora, knowing that His hour was nigh, prepared His disciples for the trials to come.
⁴⁸And He said unto them, “In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
⁴⁹“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.”
⁵⁰And they followed Him with faith, and waited for the day when the Kingdom should be fully revealed.
⁵¹Thus was fulfilled the prophecy of the star, and the coming of the Son of the Most High into the city of Murond.
⁵²And the people cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Most High!”
⁵³And the Heavens themselves seemed to open, and the voice of the Father proclaimed, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
⁵⁴And Ivalice trembled, and the mountains were moved at the power of His presence.
⁵⁵And all who had ears to hear were made ready for the days of judgment and mercy.
