CHAPTER 10
¹And it came to pass, as the days waxed late, and the shadow of darkness gathered over Murond, that Ajora was in the garden called Gethosia, praying with fervent heart unto the Father.
²And His disciples slept, for the spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak.
³Then there came unto Him a multitude, armed with swords and staves, sent from the chief priests and rulers of the people.
⁴And their captain drew near, and spake unto Ajora, saying, “Art Thou He that men call the Son of the Most High?”
⁵And Ajora answered him, “Thou hast said it; and I say unto thee, hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the Power, and coming in the clouds of Heaven.”
⁶Then they laid hands on Him, and bound Him, and led Him away.
⁷And all His disciples forsook Him, and fled.
⁸And they brought Him first before the council of the elders, who accused Him with false witness, but found no cause to condemn.
⁹And the chief priests rose up, and said, “He hath spoken blasphemy, for He maketh Himself the Son of God.”
¹⁰And Ajora held His peace, and answered not a word.
¹¹And the council was sore displeased, and condemned Him to death.
¹²But they feared the people, for many cried out, “Let Him be spared!”
¹³And they delivered Him unto the governor, a man of authority named Pontius Mallius, who was moved neither by zeal nor compassion.
¹⁴And Mallius asked Him, “Art Thou the King of the Light?”
¹⁵And Ajora said, “Thou hast said it.”
¹⁶And the priests accused Him of many things, crying out for His hanging.
¹⁷And Mallius, fearing a tumult among the people, sought to release Him.
¹⁸But the multitude clamoured, “Hang Him! Hang Him!”
¹⁹And Baros, a man of ill will, stirred the crowd to anger.
²⁰And Mallius yielded to their will, and sentenced Ajora to be hanged.
²¹And the soldiers took Him, and led Him away by ship to the place called Golgorand, where He was to be executed.
²²And they scourged Him, and put a crown of thorns upon His head, and arrayed Him in a purple robe, mocking His claim to kingship.
²³And they spat upon Him, and smote Him with their hands.
²⁴And Ajora bore all in silence, fulfilling the words of the prophets.
²⁵And the people wept and lamented.
²⁶But Ajora turned unto them, and said, “Weep not for Me, but for thy own souls and the city that shall fall.”
²⁷And they brought Him to the place of the hanged.
²⁸And darkness covered the land from the sixth hour until the ninth.
²⁹And Ajora cried with a loud voice, “Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit.”
