CHAPTER 6
¹And it came to pass, in those days when Ajora walked among the people and spake unto them of the Kingdom of God, that the afflicted came unto Him in great number, bearing their sufferings as beasts bear burdens.
²For the land was heavy with sickness, and the cries of the wounded rose like incense, bitter and unceasing, unto the Heavens.
³There were among them those whose limbs were crooked from birth, whose eyes had never seen the light of the sun, and whose tongues had never uttered a word.
⁴Some were struck with palsy, trembling in their beds as leaves in a storm; others were torn by spirits, and their voices were not their own.
⁵And there were also the lepers, cast out and made to dwell among the rocks, who covered their mouths and cried, “Unclean, unclean!” that none should draw near unto them.
⁶Yet the Lord’s Anointed feared not, neither did He draw away from them, but walked among them as a shepherd among his sheep.
⁷And the people marvelled, saying one to another, “Is not this He of whom it was said, ‘He shall bear our infirmities and carry our sorrows’?”
⁸Then came unto Him a woman named Reha, whose son was possessed of a dumb spirit, which cast him oft into the fire and oft into the water, so that none could restrain him.
⁹And she fell at Ajora’s feet, saying, “Lord, if Thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.”
¹⁰And Ajora said unto her, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”
¹¹And she wept, saying, “Lord, I believe; help Thou mine unbelief.”
¹²Then He rebuked the spirit, saying, “Come out of him, and enter no more,” and the boy fell as one dead; but Ajora took him by the hand, and he rose, and was made whole.
¹³And all that were present glorified God, saying, “Never have we seen such power in Ivalice, nor heard such authority in the voice of man.”
¹⁴In those days also came unto Him a centurion of the watch, whose servant lay sick of the flux and was nigh unto death.
¹⁵And the centurion said, “Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldest enter under my roof; but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.”
¹⁶For he was a man of discipline and order, saying to one, “Go,” and he goeth, and to another, “Come,” and he cometh.
¹⁷When Ajora heard it, He marvelled, and said unto them that followed, “Verily I say unto thee, I have not found so great faith, no, not in all Murond.”
¹⁸And from that hour the servant was healed, and they who were of the household believed on Him.
¹⁹Then went Ajora into a village called Theod, and there met Him ten lepers, who stood afar off and lifted up their voices, crying, “Master, have mercy on us!”
²⁰And He said unto them, “Go, shew thyselves unto the elders, as the law commandeth.”
²¹And as they went, they were cleansed. Yet only one, a woman of Yeron, returned to give thanks, falling down before Him.
²²And Ajora said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?”
²³Then said He unto her, “Thy faith hath made thee whole. Go in peace.”
²⁴And word of these things spread throughout the hills and into the valleys, so that they brought unto Him all that were diseased, laying them in the streets and under the trees, hoping that even the hem of His robe might touch them.
²⁵And wheresoever He passed, they laid the sick in His path, and the lame leapt as stags, and the blind beheld the glory of the day.
²⁶Now there was in the city of Dorium a woman named Mael, who had suffered an issue of blood for twelve years, and had spent all her living upon physicians, yet was not healed.
²⁷When she heard that Ajora passed by, she pressed through the crowd, and touched the border of His garment.
²⁸And immediately her issue was stanched, and she felt in her body that she was whole.
²⁹And Ajora, perceiving that power had gone out from Him, turned and said, “Who hath touched Me?”
³⁰And His disciples said, “Master, the multitude throng Thee and press Thee, and sayest Thou, ‘Who touched Me?’”
³¹But He looked round about, and when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and told Him all.
³²And He said unto her, “Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. Go in peace, and sin no more.”
³³Now in the region of Caeldria, there lay a man upon a pallet, borne of four friends, for he was sick of the palsy and could not move.
³⁴But because of the press, they could not come nigh unto Ajora, so they uncovered the roof where He was and let the man down before Him.
³⁵And when Ajora saw their faith, He said unto the sick of the palsy, “Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.”
³⁶But there were certain scribes there, murmuring in their hearts, “Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
³⁷And Ajora, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, “Why reason ye in thy hearts? Whether is it easier, to say, ‘Thy sins be forgiven thee,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’?”
³⁸“But that ye may know that the Son of God hath power on Ivalice to forgive sins”, He said unto the sick of the palsy, “I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.”
³⁹And immediately he rose up before them all, and departed, glorifying God.
⁴⁰And amazement took hold of them, and they were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today.”
⁴¹Thus did Ajora heal the sick, and His fame spread into the lands beyond the mountains, and even unto the borders of the sea.
⁴²And wherever He went, the afflicted were made whole, the broken were mended, and the hearts of men were turned toward the light of the Most High.
⁴³For the hand of God was upon Him, and the power of Heaven walked in His flesh, and the mercy of the Eternal burned like a lamp in the dark places of Ivalice.
⁴⁴And all who believed were made new.
