CHAPTER 10
¹Now on the third day after the hanged death of Ajora, when the light of the sun had not yet risen upon the hills, behold, there was a great trembling of Ivalice, and a voice as of many waters.
²And lo, the stone that sealed the tomb was rolled away by a hand not of flesh, and the watchmen who stood guard did fall to the ground as dead men, being overcome by fear and by the glory of what they beheld.
³For a figure stood before the tomb, clad in garments of fire, and His eyes were as the morning star, and upon His brow was brightness as of the firmament.
⁴And He spake with a voice as of trumpets, saying, “Why seek ye the Living among the dead? He is not here. He is risen.”
⁵Then did the tomb lie open and empty, and there was no sign of the body of Ajora, but only the linen cloths in which He had been wrapped, folded and laid aside.
⁶And it came to pass that two women, faithful from the first, came unto the tomb at dawn, bearing spices and perfumes that they had prepared, for they knew not what had come to pass.
⁷They both had followed Ajora and served His ministry.
⁸And when they saw the tomb empty and the guards laid low, they cried aloud in terror and fell upon their faces.
⁹And the figure in white spake again, saying, “Fear not, for ye seek Ajora, the Glabados, who was hanged upon the Tree of Death. He is risen, as He said.”
¹⁰“Go quickly, and tell His disciples that He goeth before thee into Murond. There shall ye see Him, as He foretold.”
¹¹Then the women arose, trembling and with great joy, and they hastened to the city, even unto the upper chamber where the disciples had hidden themselves.
¹²But when they told these things, the disciples believed them not, and said among themselves, “This is the grief of women, speaking in their sorrow.”
¹³Then arose Zalera and Rophochehe, and they said, “Let us go even unto the tomb, and see with our own eyes what the Lord hath wrought.”
¹⁴And they went forth, and found it as the women had spoken, and returned marvelling in their hearts, yet still were their spirits heavy.
¹⁵But in the evening of that day, when the doors were shut and fear encompassed them round about, behold, Ajora Himself stood in the midst of them.
¹⁶And He said unto them, “Peace be unto thee.”
¹⁷And their hearts were filled with dread, for they supposed they had seen a spirit.
¹⁸But Ajora said, “Why are ye troubled? And why do doubts arise in thy hearts? Behold My neck, that it is I Myself. Handle Me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bone as ye see Me have.”
¹⁹And He showed them the marks of the rope upon His neck, and their eyes were opened, and they knew Him.
²⁰Then were they filled with exceeding joy, and they fell down and worshipped Him.
²¹And He said unto them, “Be not afraid, for I have overcome death, and the grave hath no power over Me.”
²²“I go now to My Father, but lo, I am with thee always, even unto the end of the world.”
²³And He took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it unto them, saying, “This is My body, given for thee. Take, eat, and remember Me.”
²⁴And likewise He gave them a cup of wine, and said, “This is My blood, shed for many for the remission of sins. Drink ye all of it.”
²⁵And it came to pass that He instructed them in all things which must be fulfilled, both of the Law and of the prophets, and opened unto them the understanding of the Scriptures.
²⁶Then spake He unto Ultima, saying, “Thou art My vicar, and upon thee shall rest the burden of My Church.”
²⁷“Take thou the staff of shepherds, and lead My flock unto righteousness. Rebuke the proud, lift up the meek, strengthen the feeble.”
²⁸“Guard the keys I have given thee, and let no wolf enter among My lambs.”
²⁹“Teach the people all that I have commanded, and make disciples of every nation. Baptize them in the name of the Most High, and of the Light that proceedeth from Him, and of the Spirit who speaketh by fire.”
³⁰Then did Ajora turn to the others, and gave each one a charge, according to his gifts and strength.
³¹To Zalera, He gave wisdom and the gift of tongues, to speak unto the unbelievers.
³²To Hashmal, the courage of battle, to defend the truth.
³³To Velius, compassion for the poor and afflicted.
³⁴To Duma, judgment and prudence.
³⁵To Queklain, steadfastness and the fire of preaching.
³⁶To Rophochehe, healing of the sick and brokenhearted.
³⁷To Adrammelech, discernment of spirits and understanding of dreams.
³⁸To Cheraub, mercy and governance.
³⁹To Sel, vision and the keeping of prophecy.
⁴⁰To Zebeb, empathy and remorse.
⁴¹And to Leviathan, serenity and peace, that he may bring stillness to troubled waters.
⁴²And after these things, He lifted up His hands and blessed them all, saying,
⁴³“Behold, I send thee as lights into a dark world. Let not thy hearts fail, for the Spirit of the Lord shall be upon thee.”
⁴⁴“And lo, signs and wonders shall follow them that believe. The blind shall see, the lame shall walk, the tongues of strangers shall sing with joy.”
⁴⁵“Yea, even the dead shall rise, and the sorrowful shall be made glad.”
⁴⁶“But many shall hate thee for My Name’s sake, and shall persecute thee and cast thee out. Rejoice then, for thou art numbered with the blessed.”
⁴⁷“And when the days are fulfilled, and the Gospel hath been preached unto the ends of Ivalice, then shall the Heavens open, and the Son of God shall return with glory and with power.”
⁴⁸“Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour, but the Father knoweth.”
⁴⁹And while He yet spake, a cloud descended, radiant with golden light, and Ajora was taken up from their sight.
⁵⁰And a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him.”
⁵¹And the disciples stood gazing upward, until the cloud was taken from their eyes.
⁵²Then they worshipped Ajora, and returned to Murond with great joy, and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God.
⁵³And they went forth into all the world, preaching the Gospel, and confirming the Word with signs following.
⁵⁴And thus was the Church of Ajora Glabados begun, and it endureth unto this day.
⁵⁵Glory be to the Most High, who raised up His Son from the dead, and gave Him a Name above every name.
⁵⁶Blessed be Ajora, the Glabados, who liveth and reigneth forever and ever.
⁵⁷Amen.
