CHAPTER 1
¹In the beginning, before the foundations of Ivalice were laid, there was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God; and the Word was made flesh in the Son, Ajora Glabados, the Light of the world, and the hope of all who dwell beneath the Heavens.
²Blessed be the name of Ajora, who was sent from the Most High, to dwell among men and to reveal unto them the path of life everlasting.
³Unto Thee, O Lord Ajora, do we lift up our voices with joy and thanksgiving; for Thy mercies are new every morning, and Thy truth endureth forever.
⁴This book, written by the hand of Zalera, Thy humble servant and disciple, hath been ordained to declare the life and works of Ajora Glabados, the Son of God, the Glorious Redeemer of mankind.
⁵Hearken, all ye who thirst for righteousness and seek the way of salvation: here shall ye find the words which lead unto the Kingdom of Heaven, and the deeds which manifest the power of the Most High among the children of men.
⁶For it was foretold in the signs of the Heavens that a star would appear, heralding the birth of the Son of God, a light to pierce the darkness of this world.
⁷And from that hour, the Son of God did walk among us, preaching the glad tidings of Paradise, healing the brokenhearted, and delivering the captives from the bonds of sin.
⁸His miracles were many, and His words were as fire and as a hammer that breaketh the rock; for He taught the multitudes the seven great commandments of the Lord, that they might walk uprightly and be saved.
⁹Lo, He called unto Him twelve disciples, chosen from among the faithful, that they might bear witness unto His truth and carry forth His ministry unto the ends of Ivalice.
¹⁰The deeds and teachings of Ajora Glabados are recorded herein, that none might say they were ignorant of His works or blind to His light.
¹¹Let all who read this Gospel receive it with a pure heart, and be transformed thereby; let the words penetrate unto the innermost soul and kindle therein a flame of devotion.
¹²For the Lord Ajora is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Him.
¹³Blessed are they that keep His commandments and walk in His statutes, for theirs is the Kingdom prepared from the foundation of the world.
¹⁴Behold, this Gospel shall unfold before thee the great marvels of the star in the Heavens, the humble birth in Betalon, and the mighty works wrought by the Son of God.
¹⁵It shall recount His teaching to the multitudes, His healing of the sick, His feeding of the hungry, and the parables wherein the mysteries of the Kingdom are revealed.
¹⁶It shall also tell of His triumphant entry into Murond, His suffering at the hands of the unjust, and His death upon the gallows at Golgorand.
¹⁷Yet, it shall not end in sorrow; for three days hence, He shall rise again, triumphant over death and the grave, and ascend unto the Heavens in glory.
¹⁸Therefore, prepare thy heart to receive these holy words; incline thine ear to wisdom, and let the light of Ajora shine within thee.
¹⁹And may the grace of the Most High, through His Son Ajora Glabados, rest upon thee, guide thee, and keep thee unto eternal life.
²⁰Amen.
