CHAPTER 7
¹And it came to pass that Ajora Glabados, the Anointed of the Most High, journeyed with His disciples into the wilderness near the Sea of Bervenia, seeking solitude and rest.
²But the fame of His teachings and miracles had spread throughout Ivalice, and a great multitude followed Him, drawn by the hope of healing and the words of eternal life.
³And when Ajora beheld the crowd, He was moved with compassion, for they were as sheep without a shepherd, hungry and weary from their journey.
⁴Then said He unto His disciples, “Give ye them to eat, lest they faint by the way.”
⁵But they answered Him, “Master, we have but one loaf of bread, and the multitude is vast.”
⁶And Ajora said, “Bring them hither to Me.”
⁷And He commanded the people to sit down upon the grass in companies, and He took the loaf into the forest, and looking up to Heaven, He blessed and brake it, and gave to His disciples to set before the people.
⁸And they did all eat and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of that which remained.
⁹And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
¹⁰And the people marveled, saying, “Truly, this is the Prophet that should come into the world.”
¹¹Then Ajora departed into a mountain alone to pray, and His disciples entered into a ship to cross the sea.
¹²And in the fourth watch of the night, the ship was tossed with waves, for the wind was contrary.
¹³And Ajora came unto them, walking on the sea.
¹⁴But when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea toward their ship, they were troubled, saying, “It is a spirit,” and they cried out for fear.
¹⁵But straightway Ajora spake unto them, saying, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”
¹⁶And when He was come into the ship, the wind ceased, and they worshipped Him, saying, “Of a truth, Thou art the Son of God.”
¹⁷And when they were come to the other side, they landed in the country of Ordalia.
¹⁸And when the men of that place had knowledge of Him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto Him all that were diseased.
¹⁹And besought Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment, and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
²⁰Then came to Him scribes and Pharists from Murond, saying, “Why do Thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they wash not their hands when they eat bread.”
²¹But He answered and said unto them, “Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by thy tradition?”
²²“Ye hypocrites, pretending to be not what thou art.”
²³“But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
²⁴And He called the multitude, and said unto them, “Hear, and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.”
²⁵Then came His disciples, and said unto Him, “Knowest Thou that the Pharists were offended after they heard this saying?”
²⁶But He answered and said, “Every plant, which My Heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.”
²⁷“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
²⁸Then answered one of the disciples and said unto Him, “Declare unto us this parable.”
²⁹And Ajora said, “Are ye also yet without understanding?”
³⁰“Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?”
³¹“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.”
³²“For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.”
³³“These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.”
³⁴And Ajora departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
³⁵And great multitudes came unto Him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Ajora's feet; and He healed them.
³⁶Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Ivalice.
³⁷Then Ajora called His disciples unto Him, and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with Me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.”
³⁸And His disciples say unto Him, “Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?”
³⁹And Ajora saith unto them, “How many loaves have ye?” And they said, “Seven, and two fishes.”
⁴⁰And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
⁴¹And He took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
⁴²And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
⁴³And they that did eat were five thousand men, beside women and children.
⁴⁴And He sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Orbonne.
