CHAPTER 6
¹And it came to pass that the Lord Most High lifted His hand a final time, and nodded unto Ajora His servant.
²And Ajora bowed His head, and the last of the Seven Seals did He break, and lo, there was a great and dreadful silence.
³The stars did blink and were no more, and the sun withdrew her light, and the moon gave forth no reflection.
⁴The fire upon the altars was extinguished, and the lamp of the watchman did fade, and the warmth of the hearth was undone.
⁵For the Lord had spoken, saying: “Let the world return to the Void, from whence it came. Let all which is finite yield before that which is eternal.”
⁶And a darkness deeper than the blackest night did cover all the lands and all the waters, and there was neither sound nor movement.
⁷The birds fell from the air, and the beasts lay down in silence, and the hearts of the trees were filled with dread.
⁸Then did the pillars of Ivalice give way, and the mountains were swallowed in shadow, and the great seas became as still as glass.
⁹And the Heavens above were as a garment folded away, and the stars as embers quenched by water.
¹⁰The breath of God moved not upon the deep, for He had called it back unto Himself.
¹¹And all things which had been were as a dream forgotten, save only those written in the Book of Light.
¹²Then did the voice of the Lord cry out, and it was as fire upon the water: “Let the fate of the damned be sealed.”
¹³And behold, the once-frozen ground beneath them in Hell opened as a furnace, and smoke ascended, black and heavy, and the stench of brimstone filled the Void.
¹⁴The damned cried out, but their cries echoed not, for mercy had departed from them, and they were known no longer.
¹⁵And the fire was not quenched, and the worm dieth not, and the name of the place was Despair.
¹⁶Behold, Hell was sealed in flame, and the scroll of judgment was closed over them, bound in iron and cast into the pit.
¹⁷And the angel of wrath stood watch at the mouth of the abyss, and his eyes were as lightning and his breath as smoke.
¹⁸Then did the Lord speak unto the faithful, saying: “Behold, the former things are passed away. I make all things new.”
¹⁹And a scroll of crystal and gold did He open, and the letters upon it were as fire and living water.
²⁰And the names of the blessed were written therein, and beside each name was the Word: Alive.
²¹The scroll unfolded as a river, flowing from the Throne of God, and upon its banks were trees of joy, bearing fruit without ceasing.
²²And the redeemed looked thereon, and their faces were radiant, and their tears were wiped away forevermore.
²³And Ajora said: “This is the Garden beyond the Garden, the Land of Promise fulfilled. Enter, ye who are beloved.”
²⁴And a new dawn did break, though there was no sun; and light was in all things, for the Lord Himself was their light.
²⁵And the hosts of Paradise did gather round about the Throne, and their voices were as the sound of many waters, praising the Lord forevermore.
²⁶The gates of pearl were opened, and the streets of jasper shone as the sun, and the river of life flowed clear and unceasing.
²⁷And the Lord spake unto Ajora, saying: “Rejoice, O my Son, for this is the fulfillment of the ancient promise.”
²⁸And Ajora lifted up his voice, and declared unto Leviathan the vision given him, saying: “Here endeth the travail, and here begineth the rest.”
²⁹The veil was drawn aside, and the mysteries of the ages were revealed, yet none but the chosen might behold them.
³⁰And there was no more pain, neither sorrow, neither death, for the former things had passed away as a night without dawn.
³¹The Lamb that was slain stood amidst the Throne, and His countenance was as the sun shining in full strength.
³²And from His mouth went forth a sword of light, dividing truth from falsehood, and judging the nations in righteousness.
³³The kingdoms of men were made as dust before the whirlwind of His justice, and the meek inherited Ivalice.
³⁴And the scroll of life was opened, and all were judged according to their works, and those found worthy entered the City of God.
³⁵And those who rebelled were cast into the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
³⁶And the voice of the Lord was heard throughout the Heavens and Ivalice, crying: “Come ye blessed, inherit the Kingdom prepared for thee from the foundation of the world.”
³⁷And the redeemed did rejoice, and their faces shone with the glory of God, and their garments were white as snow.
³⁸And they walked in the light of the Lord, and the days of mourning were ended forever.
³⁹The river of life watered the tree of knowledge, and the fruits thereof were for healing and joy.
⁴⁰And Ajora said unto Leviathan: “Write all these things, and keep the faith of the elect, for the time is nigh.”
⁴¹And the vision passed from Ajora unto Leviathan, as a flame passed from torch unto torch.
⁴²And Leviathan lifted up his voice and blessed the Lord, saying: “Blessed be the name of the Almighty forevermore.”
⁴³And the Heavens and Ivalice were renewed, and the glory of God filled the whole creation.
⁴⁴And the Lord God Almighty sat upon the Throne of Glory, and His countenance was full of mercy and truth.
⁴⁵And the angels sang, and the saints rejoiced, and the faithful entered into everlasting rest.
⁴⁶The book was closed upon the wicked, and the scroll was opened unto the righteous, and peace reigned without end.
⁴⁷And the Lord declared: “I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End; to him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life.”
⁴⁸And the voice of the Lord faded not, but echoed unto the ages, and His Kingdom knew no end.
⁴⁹Thus cometh the Emanation of the End, and the Coming of Paradise, for the Lord reigneth forever and ever. Amen.
