CHAPTER 3
¹And it came to pass that Jorah, having received the word of the Lord, girded himself in faith and journeyed forth into the lands of the three kingdoms.
²He entered first the kingdom of the northern mountains, where the air was thin and the people hard and weathered from the frost.
³In the high courts and narrow alleys, Jorah lifted up his voice and proclaimed: “Behold, the Son of the Living God comes! Prepare the way! Open thy hearts to the One who shall perform great and mighty wonders!”
⁴The people looked upon him with astonishment, for they had not heard such speech from any man.
⁵Some mocked and said, “Another madman with visions!” But others, quieter and thoughtful, listened and remembered his words.
⁶And Jorah healed none, performed no signs, nor promised wealth or favor. Yet the strength of his voice, and the light of conviction upon his brow, stirred the hearts of many.
⁷“He comes not with sword or crown,” said Jorah, “but with hands that heal and a voice that calls the dead to rise.”
⁸“He shall walk among the crippled, the blind, and the leper, and they shall be made whole.”
⁹“No plague shall resist Him, no affliction escape His command.”
¹⁰From the mountain halls he descended to the river plains, into the heart of the western kingdom, where merchants bartered and rich men dined in excess.
¹¹There, among the people of silver and spice, he spoke in the crowded streets: “The Son is coming, and His miracles shall be beyond thy imagining!”
¹²“He shall cast out demons with a word. He shall bring sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf.”
¹³“Even death shall lose its sting, for the Son shall command the tomb, and the grave shall yield up its hold!”
¹⁴The merchants paused, the nobles scoffed, and the scribes whispered among themselves.
¹⁵“This man speaks of power ungranted to any born of woman,” they said. “Who is he to proclaim such wonders?”
¹⁶Yet others, moved by hope long buried beneath wealth and weariness, opened their ears.
¹⁷A woman who had suffered the wasting sickness for ten years sat weeping in the shadow of a column, whispering, “If only I might live to see the One he speaks of.”
¹⁸And Jorah, though unable to heal her, placed his hand upon her shoulder and said, “Thy faith shall guide thee to Him, and He shall know thy name.”
¹⁹And so he passed on, into the southern lands, where the sun scorched the fields and the poor dwelt in the dry dust.
²⁰There, he found the lowliest of the people — farmers, potters, beggars, and laborers — and he told them plainly: “The time draws near. God sends His Son to thee.”
²¹“Not to kings only, nor to the mighty, but to the meek and the brokenhearted.”
²²“Thou who hunger shall be filled. Thou who weep shall laugh. Thou who are cast aside shall be called children of the Most High.”
²³In the shadow of an olive tree, he told the story of his calling, and the people listened as though they drank cool water in the heat of the day.
²⁴“I am no great man,” Jorah said. “But I am sent to proclaim a great truth: that Heaven shall open its gates, and miracles shall walk among us.”
²⁵“The lame shall leap like deer, and the mute shall sing songs of joy.”
²⁶“The Son of God will pass through thy towns, not to bring judgment, but to heal, and to save.”
²⁷And though he spoke not of wrath, nor pointed fingers of condemnation, his words struck like arrows into the hearts of the proud.
²⁸The high priests and governors heard reports of the Prophet wandering the land and stirring the people.
²⁹“He speaks of another,” they said, “One greater than any prince, whose coming he claims is from Heaven.”
³⁰“If the people believe him, they will turn away from us. Our power will dwindle, our names be forgotten.”
³¹And so they hardened their hearts and sent word to their allies in each kingdom: “Watch this Jorah, and if he speaks in thy city, bind him.”
³²But the people, especially the lowly and forgotten, received Jorah with gladness.
³³Some followed him from place to place, repeating his words as a chant of hope: “The Son is coming! He shall make all things new!”
³⁴In the open squares, Jorah cried out, “The Son of God shall open the Heavens and pour forth mercy! No ailment shall remain before Him, nor shall death hold any sway where He walks!”
³⁵“He shall be gentle with the bruised reed, and mighty before the oppressor.”
³⁶The lame hobbled from distant farms to hear him, and the blind were led by the hand to sit near his feet.
³⁷Jorah wept often as he preached, for the people’s hunger for God touched him deeply.
³⁸“Thou art sheep without a shepherd,” he cried. “But the Shepherd is coming, and He knows His own.”
³⁹The crowds grew, and the murmur of expectation filled the towns — some fearful, some rejoicing, some bewildered.
⁴⁰Jorah prayed every night for strength, for the Word burned in him like fire, and the burden of it was heavy.
⁴¹And though he knew the time of his suffering drew near, he did not cease.
⁴²For the Spirit of the Lord had spoken plainly: “Let the words pour out from thee as a river, and I shall gather them into My harvest.”
⁴³And Jorah obeyed.
⁴⁴Through every village, by every well, beneath every shade tree, his voice rang out: “Prepare thy hearts, for the Son of God comes, and His wonders shall shake the very stars!”
