CHAPTER 2
¹And the voice of the Lord came again unto Phara, as the sun rose upon the hills, and the light of dawn brake upon his countenance.
²And the Lord said, “Phara, My servant, hearken unto the words which I speak unto thee, for thou art called to bear witness of the things which shall shortly come to pass.”
³“Behold, the day draweth nigh, yea, it cometh swiftly as a thief in the night, when I shall send Mine only-begotten Son unto Ivalice, that He may save the world from the darkness which doth compass it round about.”
⁴“For the peoples of Ivalice have stumbled in their ways, and the nations have faltered in their pride. Yea, confusion and desolation are multiplied, and none can deliver himself from the snare.”
⁵“Therefore shall I send forth My Son, clothed with power and girded with mercy, that He may bring light into the shadowed places, and stillness into the tempest.”
⁶“He shall lift up the broken-hearted, and strengthen the feeble knees. He shall loose the captives from the chains of their torment, and bring glad tidings unto them that dwell in sorrow.”
⁷“His hand shall be as balm upon the afflicted, and His word as fire within the bones of the unrepentant. He shall not strive, neither shall He cry aloud, but His truth shall shake the hills.”
⁸“By Him shall the paths of righteousness be revealed, and they that walk therein shall not stumble. He shall make crooked ways straight, and scatter the workers of iniquity.”
⁹“Phara, thou shalt go before Him to prepare the way, and thy voice shall be heard among the cities and the fields, among the rich and the poor, among the learned and the unlearned.”
¹⁰“Cry aloud, spare not: lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and say unto the people, ‘Behold, the Lord cometh with salvation in His wings. His Son is nigh at hand, and His days shall be full of wonders and deliverance.’”
¹¹“Say unto the rulers of Ivalice, ‘Lay down thy sceptres and break thy pride, for the King of Heaven draweth near.’ Say unto the people, ‘Prepare thy hearts, and cleanse thy hands, for the time is at hand.’”
¹²“And though many shall mock thee, and others shall turn away from thee, yet be thou steadfast and faint not. For the word that proceedeth from My mouth shall not return void, but shall accomplish that which I please.”
¹³“Be not dismayed at their faces, neither fear their threatenings. For I, the Lord thy God, am with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
¹⁴“Keep thou the faith that hath been delivered unto thee. Let it be as a lamp in darkness and a shield against the tempest. Though the path be narrow and full of sorrow, yet shall it lead unto glory.”
¹⁵“For thou shalt be as a stone set for a sign. Thy witness shall be remembered, and thy words shall be written in the hearts of them that believe.”
¹⁶“And when thy days are fulfilled, and thy voice is silenced by the hand of the wicked, then shall thy soul be gathered unto Me, and thou shalt rest in the courts of Heaven.”
¹⁷“Fear not, O My servant, for thy blood shall not be shed in vain. The memory of the righteous is a sweet savour before Me, and thy reward shall not be taken away.”
¹⁸And Phara bowed his face to the ground, and lifted up his hands in reverence, saying, “Lord, thy will be done. Lo, I am thy servant: command me as seemeth good unto Thee.”
¹⁹And the Lord departed from him in the brightness of glory, and the place where Phara stood was filled with stillness, and the breath of Heaven lingered there.
²⁰And Phara rose up early in the morning, and took his staff and his mantle, and went forth from his house, to go whither the Lord had sent him, to proclaim the coming of the Son of the Most High.
