CHAPTER 3
¹O King, remember now the wonders which the Lord wrought in the days of our fathers, and the signs that were shown through His holy servant, Saint Ajora.
²For He came not with sword, nor with scepter, but with the voice of truth and the hand of healing.
³He walked among the lowly, and the afflicted sought Him, and He turned not away His face.
⁴The blind received sight, and the dumb spake; the halt leapt as the hart, and the poor had the Gospel preached unto them.
⁵He cast out devils with but a word, and the darkness fled from His presence as smoke before the wind.
⁶At His touch the leper was made clean, and the sick were made whole; even they that were nigh unto death rose up and magnified the Lord.
⁷He did eat with sinners and broke bread with them that were despised, and He made clean that which the world called unclean.
⁸The hearts of many were turned unto righteousness, and the eyes of the proud were cast down.
⁹Yet for this was He hated by the princes of men, and delivered up by treachery, and condemned though no guile was found in Him.
¹⁰He bore reproach without answer, and was numbered among the transgressors, though He was the Lamb without blemish.
¹¹Yet even in death He triumphed, and from the tomb He arose, clothed in light, bearing the seal of victory.
¹²And now He is seated at the right hand of the Most High, and maketh intercession for them that walk in His ways.
¹³Rejoice, O King, for this same Ajora hath promised a Kingdom that shall not pass away, wherein the just shall shine as the stars.
¹⁴There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, for the former things shall be done away.
¹⁵The tree of life shall flourish by the river of gladness, and they that are faithful shall eat of its fruit forever.
¹⁶The Lamb shall be their light, and their joy shall have no end.
¹⁷These things are sure and steadfast, written by the Spirit and sealed with the blood of the Martyr.
¹⁸Therefore, O King, take heed to thy charge, and be thou a faithful shepherd unto the flock of the Lord.
¹⁹Let the churches within thy realm flourish without hindrance, as vines upon the wall of a fruitful house.
²⁰Rebuke not the messengers of the Word, neither bind the hands of them that heal in His name.
²¹Let thy priests speak boldly, and let not the tongue of doctrine be silenced by the whisper of envy.
²²For the field is white unto harvest, but the laborers are few; and he that hindereth the sower shall answer before the throne.
²³Set not thy heart upon the walls of thy palace, but upon the altars of the Lord, which are thy true defense.
²⁴Let the widow find peace in thy gates, and the orphan take shelter beneath thy laws.
²⁵Strengthen the hands of the faithful, and give to the poor without turning away thy face.
²⁶Then shall thy land be as a watered garden, and thy name as ointment poured forth.
²⁷Take counsel with the elders of the Church, and set over them men full of wisdom and the Spirit.
²⁸Let not the wolf wear the skin of the lamb, nor the hireling stand in the place of the shepherd.
²⁹Cast out the proud from the sanctuary, and let not the altar be defiled with gold unjustly gotten.
³⁰For the house of God is holy, and terrible is He who dwelleth therein.
³¹Be as a wall of fire about thy people, O King, that none may make them afraid.
³²But be not as an iron yoke upon their necks, lest the cry of the oppressed ascend unto Heaven.
³³Give liberty unto them that worship, and spare not to build up the house of faith.
³⁴For the Lord loveth a cheerful giver, and remembereth him that buildeth His temple.
³⁵Let the feast days be kept with gladness, and the fasts with reverence, and let the sabbaths be a delight.
³⁶Cause the Book to be read in every city, and the name of Ajora to be lifted up in the streets.
³⁷Let the children be taught in righteousness, and the old be honored in peace.
³⁸Then shall thy throne be established in mercy, and thy kingdom shall be known for truth.
³⁹Be not slothful in this work, O King, nor faint in thy zeal, for the reward is great and the end is peace.
⁴⁰The Lord shall bless thee thrughout Ivalice, and shall make the work of thy hands to prosper.
⁴¹He shall send His angel before thee, and shall guide thy steps in the path of holiness.
⁴²And thy house shall be a light unto the nations, and many shall take shelter in thy shade.
⁴³The Heavens shall declare thy righteousness, and Ivalice shall yield her increase.
⁴⁴Thy sons shall be as olive plants about thy table, and thy daughters as polished stones of the temple.
⁴⁵Great shall be the peace of thy borders, and none shall make thee afraid.
⁴⁶For thou hast set thy heart to serve the Lord, and hast not withheld thy hand from His house.
⁴⁷Glory and honor shall be thy portion, and thy memorial shall not perish from Ivalice.
⁴⁸Blessed is the king who loveth righteousness, and feedeth the flock of the Lord with understanding.
⁴⁹His sleep shall be sweet, and in the day of trouble he shall not be confounded.
⁵⁰Peace be upon thee, O Olaran, King of Lesalia, and upon all them that put their trust in the Lord and in His holy one, Saint Ajora.
