CHAPTER 1
¹Velius, servant of the Most High and apostle of His Anointed, to Olaran, King of Lesalia, grace and peace be unto thee from Him who was, and is, and shall be forever.
²Blessed be the Lord, who sitteth upon the circle of the Heavens, whose voice thundereth over the waters, and whose mercy endureth unto all generations.
³He stretcheth forth the Heavens as a curtain, and layeth the beams of His chambers upon the waters; He maketh the clouds His chariot, and walketh upon the wings of the wind.
⁴Ivalice is His footstool, and the nations are as a drop of a bucket before Him; yet He regardeth the lowly, and the contrite heart He will not despise.
⁵He hath exalted His Son, Saint Ajora, above all principalities and powers, and hath given Him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Ajora every knee should bow.
⁶To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
⁷O King Olaran, thou art set as a watchman over the house of Lesalia; thy sceptre is established in righteousness, and thy throne is upheld by justice.
⁸Thou hast not turned aside to the right hand nor to the left, but hast walked in the statutes of the Lord thy God, and hast not forsaken the covenant of thy fathers.
⁹Thy judgments are as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; and thy people dwell in safety under thy shadow.
¹⁰The poor and the needy find refuge in thy gates, and the stranger is not turned away from thy courts; thou hast been a father to the fatherless, and the cause of the widow hath come before thee.
¹¹Thy name is as ointment poured forth, and thy renown is as the dew upon the mountains; the isles have heard of thy wisdom, and the kings of Ivalice have sought thy counsel.
¹²Therefore, O King, be strong, and let not thine heart be lifted up; remember the Lord thy God in all thy ways, and He shall direct thy paths.
¹³For He it is that giveth thee power to rule, and by Him kings reign and princes decree justice.
¹⁴Let thy heart be perfect before Him, and let thy hands be clean; so shall thy kingdom be established forever, and thy seed shall inherit the land.
¹⁵The Lord bless thee and keep thee; the Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; the Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
