CHAPTER 1
¹Velius, a servant of the Most High and an Apostle of Saint Ajora, to Igros, King of Gallione, grace be unto thee, and peace from the Lord Eternal and from His Anointed.
²Blessed be the Name of the Lord, whose dominion is without beginning and without end; who made the world by a word, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth.
³He that dwelleth upon the heights, whose footstool is Ivalice, whose throne is Heaven, and whose justice filleth the deep places.
⁴Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; His mercy endureth forever, and His judgments are right and altogether true.
⁵Glory also unto His Son, the holy Saint Ajora, who was slain by the wicked, yet rose in triumph over death, and now sitteth at the right hand of Majesty.
⁶His wisdom surpasseth all the treasures of kings, and His light hath overcome every shadow.
⁷To thee, noble Igros, son of kings, ruler of Gallione, I write this epistle in love and in solemn duty.
⁸For thy strength hath been shown forth in war, and thy prudence in peace; thy mercy hath gladdened the widow and the fatherless.
⁹Thou hast restored the walls of the cities, and hast healed the broken places in thy land, and hast not suffered the flame of ruin to consume thy people.
¹⁰The Lord beholdeth thy deeds from on high, and I beseech thee, O King, to walk humbly before Him all thy days.
¹¹For great is thy charge, and mighty the judgment of them that are exalted.
¹²Blessed art thou if thou continuest in righteousness, for the Lord shall be thy shield, and thy name shall be remembered in Ivalice forever.
