CHAPTER 1
¹Grace be unto thee, O King Radras of Lionel, and peace from the Flame Everlasting, who is from the beginning and shall endure beyond the end.
²Blessed be the Lord Most High, whose throne is from the foundation of the Heavens, and whose glory covereth the stars as a mantle.
³He setteth the sun in its course, and calleth forth the moon to rule the night; the mountains bow before Him, and the seas give heed unto His breath.
⁴His voice is as the thunder upon the heights, and as the still wind that passeth through the barley-field.
⁵By His will the world is, and in His mercy the world shall be remade.
⁶All wisdom floweth from His bosom, and He revealeth His truth unto the lowly and them of a contrite heart.
⁷He hath sent forth His Holy One, Saint Ajora, who is called the Flame Made Flesh, to teach the path of righteousness and to call the nations to repentance.
⁸Saint Ajora walked among men, bearing neither blade nor coin, yet mighty in speech and wonder, a lamp to the blind and balm to the broken.
⁹He gave bread to the hungry, and opened the eyes of them that sat in darkness; He brought forth truth from silence, and mercy from judgment.
¹⁰Though the kings of Ivalice rose up, and though the mighty took counsel together, He opened not His mouth against them, but fulfilled all that was written.
¹¹The Lord exalted Him above all, and appointed Him heir of the Kingdom not made with hands, eternal in the heights.
¹²Therefore let all tongues confess His name, and all peoples bow their knee before Him.
¹³Now unto thee, O King Radras, I write with gladness of heart and fullness of prayer, having heard of thy justice and of the order of thy house.
¹⁴Thou hast walked not in the counsel of the scornful, nor sat in the seat of the proud; but thou hast considered the words of the righteous, and held thy peace in the presence of the Lord.
¹⁵The people of Lionel rejoice under thy rule, for thy hand is both firm and open, and thy judgment is as the stone well-fitted into the wall.
¹⁶Thou hast restored the ruined places, and given bread to the widow and the orphan; thou hast not turned away the poor from the gate.
¹⁷Thy captains speak of thee in the camp, and thy scribes in the hall; thou art a crown unto the kingdom, and a wall unto thy people.
¹⁸Blessed is the king who setteth his throne upon righteousness, and who remembereth the poor, for the Lord shall establish his house.
¹⁹I beseech thee, therefore, to continue in the path thou hast begun, and to set thine eyes ever upward, for the Flame beholdeth the hearts of kings.
²⁰Let not thy right hand grow weary, neither let thy left grow proud; but judge in mercy, and govern with wisdom, that thy name be not blotted from the book of remembrance.
²¹For as the tree is known by its fruit, so is the king by his works; and the throne is established by justice, but is overthrown by cruelty.
²²May thy reign be long in the land, and thy days full of peace; may thy children’s children call thee blessed.
²³I give thanks continually unto the Lord for thee, remembering thee in my prayers night and day, that thy lamp may never be extinguished.
²⁴May the Lord Flame guide thy steps, and may Saint Ajora stand at thy right hand, to instruct thee in every good path.
²⁵Amen.
